The Scholastic All-America (SAA) program, managed by USA Swimming, recognizes high school swimmers for their academic and athletic achievements. To qualify for this honor, swimmers must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and achieve specific qualifying times in their swimming events during the designated period.

    Key Requirements:

    1. Academic Criteria: Applicants must have completed grades 9-12 with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Honors and advanced courses are weighted to reflect their difficulty.
    2. Swimming Criteria: Swimmers must have achieved a time equal to or faster than the Winter Junior National qualifying time in any individual event during the SAA qualifying period (Sep 1,2023-Aug 31, 2024, dates inclusive) with the qualifying times in SWIMS.. For swimmers with disabilities, specific Para Scholastic All-American Standards apply.
    3. Open Water Criteria: Swimmers must achieve qualifying times in distance freestyle events and participate in the Open Water National Championships.

    Application Process:

    • Application Window: Opens June 1 and closes September 6 each year.
    • Documents Required: A complete transcript for the academic year and proof of membership in good standing with USA Swimming at the time of the swim and application.

Athletes meeting these criteria receive a commemorative bag tag and certificate, with additional recognition for those achieving perfect scores (national champions with a 4.0 GPA) and seniors with multiple years on the list.

    Check if You Qualify

To check if you qualify based on your swimming times, visit the Scholastic All-America Times page. This page includes tools to help you determine if you meet the required standards.
