Q: Why, in the same age group, does a slower time sometimes get a higher power point score?

A: Power points are based on single-age groups, even though time standards (like A, AA, AAA) categorize swimmers into broader age ranges (e.g., 11-12, 13-14).

The key rules that affect scoring:

    • Younger swimmers within an age group earn more points for the same or even slightly slower times compared to older swimmers.

    • Power points are based on the swimmer’s age at the time of the meet, not their current age.
