July is always the biggest month on the long course calendar, and 2026 delivered in full — Futures meets, Zone and LSC Championships, Far Westerns, and the season's marquee event, the 2026 Toyota National Championships (July 28), which produced the overwhelming majority of this month's fastest swims. Along the way, a handful of teenagers put together performances that rival what's typically reserved for college-aged swimmers, and a wave of 9-to-14-year-olds posted power points numbers that will make plenty of coaches double check the scoring tables.
Below is a full breakdown of July's top times by event, followed by a look at the age-group standouts putting the swimming world on notice for the season ahead.
Toyota Nationals Sets the Tone
With Nationals landing in the final days of July, it's no surprise that the meet supplied nearly every top time on this list. A few swimmers stood out as the stars of the week:
- Liberty Clark (Indiana Swim Club) was the most versatile sprinter in the pool, taking the top spot in the women's 50 free and finishing 1-2 in the 100 free behind only Rylee Erisman.
- Rylee Erisman (Windermere Lakers) matched Clark stride for stride, topping the 100 and 200 free.
- Audrey Derivaux (Jersey Wahoos) had one of the meet's best all-around showings, ranking at or near the top in the 100/200 fly, 200 IM, and 200 back.
- Luka Mijatovic (Pleasanton Sea Hawks) was the story of the men's distance events, sweeping the top times in the 200, 400, and 1500/1650 free.
- Rowan Cox (Texas Longhorns) and John Thumann (Cal) traded blows across the men's fly and free sprints.
Week at a Glance
- Liberty Clark and Rylee Erisman both cracked 53 seconds in the 100 free, with Clark's 52.97 and Erisman's 52.92 separated by five-hundredths.
- Luka Mijatovic's distance sweep included a 3:43.45 in the 400 free and a 7:46.57 in the 800/1000 free — both among the month's highest power-points swims regardless of age.
- On the girls' side, Charlotte Crush (Lakeside) went 1-2 in the 100 back and 200 back at Nationals, establishing herself as the meet's top backstroker.
- Wilson York (Lakeside) put together the strongest breaststroke showing of the month, sweeping the top two spots in the 200 breast and ranking second in the 100 breast.

Young Stars to Watch
While Nationals produced the fastest raw times of the month, the highest power points swims of July came almost entirely from swimmers well under 18 — many of them competing at LSC and Zone championship meets rather than the national stage. A few names worth filing away:
- Elliot Leasure, 14 (Rochester Swim Club) — his 55.26 in the 100 back scored 1136 power points, the single highest mark anywhere in this month's data, and he backed it up with a 2:01.23 in the 200 back that also topped 1000.
- Ayden Tan, 13 (San Ramon Valley Aquatics) — a 2:06.64 in the 200 IM scored 1133 power points, and he also cracked the boys' 100 back, 100 fly, and 100 free lists.
- Iris Liu, 9 (Pleasanton Seahawks) — her 37.49 in the 50 breast scored 1112 power points, tops among all girls this month, and she also ranked at the top of the girls' 100 breast list by power points.
- Robert Legg, 10 (Pleasanton Seahawks) — a 4:30.32 in the 400/500 free scored 1125 power points.
- Jett Hatchard, 13 (Olympus Aquatics) — went 58.04/58.18/58.56 across three 100 back swims, each scoring above 1100 power points, and also ranked near the top of the 200 back.
- Nicolas Lahre, 11 (BGC-N. Westchester Marlins), and Gabriel Brown, 10 (Fishers Area Swimming Tigers), both turned in multiple 1000+ power points swims in the 200 back, 200 IM, and 200 free — two more names to watch in the 10-and-under and 11-12 ranks.
None of these swimmers show up at the top of the raw-time leaderboards above — they're competing in different age groups against different fields. But on power points, which adjusts for age and gives a clearer read on how a swim compares across the board, July belonged to them as much as it did to the Nationals headliners.
